I want to do an overhaul in frame overhaul of my 8v71. Our Detroit dealer in Portland is really expensive, aren't they all. How much should I spend for the Power Packs, gaskets, and does anyone have any advice. I have lots of time, just no money. Any other advice.. GMC 4108. |

Should pay about 1300.00 for the kit including gaskets. Try your local HD parts dealer that handles Sealed Power or others like it. Check prices, then tear-down. Analyze what it really needs and be sure to mic the bores in the block to get the proper liner fit. The liners come in different oversizes to fit the block just right and this must be done. Get a series 71 engine manual and follow it pretty close. Good Luck
