I have a Detroit 6v 71 left hand rotate (v drive) and want to install a Vickers power steering pump to add power steering. My questions are--- the pump no. is vtm42 2136753-R. Is the "R" right rotate? how do I know if this pump can be used on this motor rotation? It has a two bolt mounting flange and I am looking to drive it direct off the motor. Is there a diagram for accessory drive rotation on Detroit? And where can I get the drive itself? the pump has a threaded, keyed shaft. thanks in advance Steve |

Steve, if it is the wrong rotation, you can make brackets to remount it facing the other way, (facing in instead of facing out), then it will be turning the correct rotation. Can't help on the pump info, sorry. Peter. |

Steve, Bill at Bab Steering Hydralics seems to know a lot about buses and Vickers power steering systems. He rebuilt the Vickers power steering system, and I couldn't be happier. Give hima a call. http://www.babsteering.com/ |

Steve, When you determine that your pump is for the other rotation, you can reverse it by moving the center body to the other set of locating pin holes. Some models you must turn the center body over, does the same thing. 06 Bill |
