I ran into a glitch with a bad pump last weekend so I am making a new go at it now.

I decided to mount the pump next to the tank.
I discovered that the pipe from the pickup is 5/8”… it is 3/8” at the firewall/bulkhead.

Question: any reason that I should not use ½” from the tank, thru the pump manifold, and back to the original 5/8” at the tank?

Flared pipe is new to me, always on a learning curve here.
Thanks, Peter

Refresh my memory, this pump is only going to be used as a primer pump? If the answer is "yes" then, as long as your connections are all tight (and without leaks), I can see no problems with it.

Brian... the pump and manifold will be alongside the tank

This plan will have me using about 10' of 1/2" (and fittings, ball valve, etc.) between the tank and the existing 5/8" pipe...

I can see no problem either, the other end gets down to 3/8” at the primary filter.

Should be fine then, Peter.
