Any of you guru's know of any place that I could find a window glass for the entry door for the H3, OR do any of you know what caused the glass to have a milky look which appears to be in between the panes? If there is a solution to removing it (the milkey look), other than replacement, could anyone comment?

Also the drivers side window has what appears to be water in between the panes that is very distracting. Is there a means for removing the unwanted moisture from it as well?

Thanks
Ace

Ace -

I had a windshield on an old Corvair van do that (milky look) around the edges. My friend who owns a body shop said that was the plastic safety lamination between the two panes of glass that was discoloring. . .

IIRC, the moisture between the panes means that the normal slight vacuum in there has been lost.

Curved Glass Distributing should be able to help you with replacement glass, reasonably priced. Their website URL is:

Might also ask them, while you've got them on the line, the questions you've asked us, to see what their explanation is. Be interesting to hear what the professionals have to say. . .

My wife ran a commercial glass shop for 20 years specializing in store fronts, automotive, and big truck glass. She says if your windows are single pane they have begun to delaminate, and if they are dual pane the seal is broken. Either way, successful repair is unlikely. Neither condition is unsafe as far as the glass breaking or collapsing going down the road under normal conditions, but in an accident the glass has nothing to hold it together. Obviously it will impair vision.

Ace,

Mine has double pane windows in the door and beside the driver. The drivers side had moisture in between, and the only solution was to replace it. Nasty job to take it out, took them 4 hours. I had Prevost do it, but if I had it to do over again , I might have Peninsula make a window for it. They will do a slider, which would be nice. Irritating, but you can either live with it or replace it.

The milky appearance is caused by the membrane sandwiched between the glass panels of automotive glass deteriorating. It starts where the membrane is exposed to air, such as along the edges or at chips and cracks. Moisture trapped between thermopane panels is the result of seal failure.
Two thermopane windows - the entry door and the 5 sided window behind the driver side window - on my '76 Prevost Champ lost their seals and had moisture trapped between panes. Prevost's price for non tinted replacements was a few hundred for each.
Peninsula Glass in Vancouver, WA made and installed replacements. I made an apponitment, pulled in around 9AM. They pulled the old windows, measured, built and installed the replacements and had me back on the street in about six hours. Total cost was $360. I opted for tinted, fixed panes but they'll make them with sliders, screens and offer several tint options.
The tear out and replacement looked relatively simple but was a lot of work and installation required four hands.
If you are anywhere near Peninsula's shop, having them do it all is a good way to go.

Tony,
The total bill for two windows installed was $360 total. Sliders and tinted entry would have been more. This was somewhat less than what I was quoted on the phone.
Nice folks, good workmanship. We were enroute to a rally, they hustled to get us back on the road.

George -

This topic has been hashed over numerous times on this bbs.

If you'll use the "keyword search" utilitiy found in the LH column, it will bring up many answers to your question.

Most every state has their DMV stuff online nowadays, and with a little patience and the use of Google, the info can be found.
