Having a problem with a miss that starts around 1600 rpm. On the flat I can run 1800 without miss but on a pull it starts at 1600. Even on a steep hill in second gear no miss until get over 1600 Any Ideas! Thanks |

The miss is probably also there at an idle, you just aren't noticing it until you are under load. The procedure is to short out each injector while idling, test compression in the weak clyinder(s), and replace the injector if the compression is good. --Geoff '82 RTS CA |

On a Detroit 2-stroke MUI you get a big screwdriver and "jam" it between the injector spring and the inside fuel line nut. This holds the plunger down so no fuel gets injected. |

Geoff The miss is not visible or hearable below 1600 rpm un just reving it up stationary also there is no miss under load in 1 st gear or 2nd or 3d going up a hill pulling a truck untill you get above 1600 any ideas |

You still have to follow the procedure I gave shorting out the injectors, if that doesn't work then you have to put it on a dyno under load to find the problem. A laser heat gun on the exhaust manifold at each clyinder would tell you which cylinders weren't firing. P.S. Shorting out the injectors while idling is a practiced art-- you may not notice a miss that a seasoned Detroit mechanic could easily find. --Geoff |
