The usual problem with a GM is that the weight of the engine is really hung off the roof. Therefore tongue weight is usually limited to 300#, with some folks going to 600# (absolute max} for a very short move. Your van tow bar weighs nothingmuch , so it should not be a problem,ripping the engine out of the coach. BUT I dont think the 04 is up to STOPPING all that weight. A brake system , that really works well, should be installed . The Canadians demand toad breaks on anything over 2000# or so , as you would be 3 or 4 times hs heavy , it should be installed , weather you put an 6-71 in the toad or not. A legal rated tow bar for this combo , may be hard to find. If the factory's have a hard time,with this much weight, is your design , engineering and welding up to the task?
