I have installed the WECO engine preheater, but am having a problem getting it to ignite. I used an AC Delco fuel pump at 5-7 lbs pressure, and it is pumping fuel to fuel solenoid, however it does not appear to be presurised enough to cause fuel to ignite. Has anyone experienced this problem? Will a fuel pump using higher pressure work? If so what pressure? Thanks Doug |

I am considering a similar move. If you have access to a small tank of say about 1 gallon capacity that you can put diesel in and then pressurize from an air compressor, you could kick it up to, say 32 psi, and try that. That's a pretty common pressure for gasoline to gas engine injection systems, but I don't know what kind of pressure the heater might have been designed for. A pressurized tank allows you to experiment with burn rates and atomization so you can readily evaluate its behavior and performance. Just an idea FWIW that I was considering doing myself when I get mine, which I expect to do. Clarke |
