After much searching on the net and talking to many people I finally found a manufacturer of slideout equipment who will sell to Bus Nuts. They have 3 systems, the tube that must be supported by the frame of the bus, the EZ slideout system, and a new cog rail system. These systems all have the current limiter systems on them and come with all the nessary parts to put on the bus. I am not trying to sell these I am only wanting to help others, their telephone number is 800-537-9940 and you can find their web site at http://www.barkermfg.com/product_pages/slide_out_systems.html Again I am not selling these systems so don't get mad at me ok? |

H3Jim, they seem to be between the $500 and $600 range, the tube system is used by Holiday Rambler and I forgot to note that the other two systems are self supporting except on most busses one might want to build a stout box frame system under the bus in the first baggage compartment. I plan on going from the old airconditon part to the back of the first baggage door and then put in extra vertical frames for where I will cut the old door in two and then hinge it and make folding doors so I can get to the bay wheather the slide is in or out. |

What about Valid Slides? On this Board; » How do they handle SLIDES & GOODIES? http://www.busnut.com/bbs/messages/11/5497.html?1076958841 There's an answer to the question on Valid Slides The Slide that stays level to the floor no Step. Since a couple of years we can see them on Newells But are they available to Bus Nuts as an After Market Accessory??? |

At this point in time we do not manufacture an after market slide out "kit". It has been discussed many times internally and although it is something that we will most likely develop, at this point we do not have an offering. Regards, Grant Hiebert Valid Manufacturing Ltd. |

What's wrong with taking 2 1 inch thick 4X8 sheets of plywood and sandwiching them together to the length you need (mine will be about 12'6"X 3') and then making your frame on top of the board? Your plate will be a bit wider than with an undercarrage frame but you will save the weight. Then all you have to do is bolt the frame on with countersunk flathead bolts, when it is all done put on a sheet of plastic or fiberglass to cover the bolt heads, this will keep the bottom of the board clean, and let the slide move easily accross your rug in the livingroom. This will make a thin step up into the slideout and also you can put bolts into the frame that angle out from the bottom so you can have seatbelts for your passengers. |

IT CAN be done , Nothing is impossible with enough cash & time. However having a structural analysis of the current structure , and hiring a design team from Boeing or NASA to figure out how to install a huge hole in a beercan (fine monocoque construction) is to pricy for most campers . For the same cash you could get a new airodynamic coach drawn ,CNC machine carved in foam , a split mould made and a new body created in carbon fiber and autoclaved. Stelth surfacing would be a bit extra , and might loose some sleekness. This would probably cost less than slideholing any GM. Enjoy , FAST FRED |

Aww come on folks, all Califbob has to do is support the roof (might as well raise it while he is at it) and then cut out all the monocoque framing (you need to leave the lower rail in place along with the upper rail. Don't forget to block under the bus while your doing this. Then put in square tubing all around the bus or oblong if that is needed where the monocoque was. Monocoque was done to save weight and money but a chanel system takes care of the lost support from the skin. Then Under the bus where the slide out is going to be you just build a box frame with 4" tubing to support the slideout and give yourself a place to attach the mechanism. Have fun and don't let others tell you it can't be done |
