I know it been discussed before but my Question is. When I use my cell phone to connect how will I get billed? I have Verizon and not worried about my minuets but I don’t want to use their network. I will just sign on using aol What I don’t know is do they bill different for data calls to a local phone number. Planning a trip next month and don’t want a surprise on my bill. Last year I found out even though I had a national plan my phone was not compatible and I got a $700.00 phone bill. They did reduce it to under $300.00 Thanks Rick |

rick I use Verizon all over the country.all you need is a verizon mobil connection kit and you can use your own ISP. My wife is an retiree fron the ph co. and did a lot of research. Has worked great for six years. You have to update the phone every so often. hope this helps. Mike |

I too use verison... as far as billing goes, connecting to the internet via their internet express 144k service is no different as far as they are concerned as just making a normal phone call. It's all part of the monthly service fee. If I do my internet after business hours or on weekends, it's totally free! It really works well, is fast, reliable, and so far works everywhere I've gone... (Im on it right now) I actually got the cell phone just for this service... folks notice I have one and comment (I've always hated them) and I tell em, "nope, it's simply an antenna for my laptop"... and that's about what it really is for me! The only thing I found is that since my regular isp is cable, I can't access their smtp server via the verison connection. I can receive all my email, just not reply. So, a place called www.smtp.com to the rescue... give em 50 bucks a year and you can use their smtp to send... so.... it rocks!!! Cheers Gary |

Gary You might want to check with your ISP and see if they have an access means for Hotmail to pull it up. Mine (Charter) has a way to do that. It is a little indirect, but it gets the job done. Doug St Louis MC9 |

It is fairly easy to update your computer to allow for "WiFi" connections. These wireless modems are the wave of the future and already available at all Flying J's and I'm sure more stops. It is fairly cheap to buy a new laptop with a wireless data port... |
