If anyone is familiar with DD Series 50 CNG engines, maybe you can help answer this question. On Orion 5 transit buses equipped with the DD Series 50 CNG engine, the engine tends to make a strange noise when the accelerator is released. It sounds like a jake brake but it only lasts for a few seconds and it is not that loud. The buses we I rode on do not have jake brakes. What can be causing this noise? Something to do with the valve timing? |

Just joking, but maybe it is a super sucking system designed to remove any extra unwanted liquid or gasous CNP from the mill intake. Seems to me one of the many problems with CNG is stopping it from entering the system QUICKLY when the pedal is released. When you release the throttle, does the mill instantly slow down, or does it take a couple of seconds? Anyway, good luck. |
