Not a bus question, but how is the 6.9 diesel as a truck engine

Very good, in both IH MD trucks & Ford HD pickups & vans.

Just watch for cavitation from incorrect coolant.

The early version of the 7.3 which progressed into a turboed version and then came the power stroke. If you want more power get the 7.3, but the 6.9 will give you better mileage and it's not that low on power. Banks make turbo kits for them.

A very strong engine, we estimated the one in my F-350 had got 300,000 on it before it finally started burning more oil from the pan than the fuel tank. It had just plain wore out by then. New valve train, recon the heads and a rebore with new pistons and rings and a crank grind and bearings and it's away again.

Peter.
