Hello all, getting close to wanting to remove the floor in my bus and would like to know if there are any tricks of the trade to doing it, I have found that knowing the way others did it would help a lot and help me from makeing a lot of mistakes, Thank you for your help. |

JayJay's comments when I was removing my latrine would seem to apply to this project as well... " Ron the Busnut has a removal kit that is noisy, but effective. There are 4 sticks in the standard kit and 6 sticks in the heavy duty one. Fuse and caps are standard, but you can get the electric caps for only a few dollars more. UPS Haz-Mat shipping is a bit exorbitant though, but since USPS wussies won't take high deflagration explosives any more you don't have a choice. I've heard Luke or International Bus may have C-4 or Semtex, but that is only a rumor. Persistence is the only alternatiove to the above!!! ...JJ" |

The screw heads get filled with dirt and grime, so first you need to clean out the head and use an impact driver (Craftsman $29.99) if the head strips out as most will. I found the best way is to get a scrap piece of plywood (about 1'x1')and using a hole saw put a 1 1/8" hole about 2" from the edge. Now remove the pilot bit from the hole saw arbor and place the plywood hole over the problem screw and use the hole saw to cut around the screw. The floor will lift right up leaving the "plug" that can be removed with pliers or channel locks. DONT use a chissel to remove the plug as it will booger up the metal for installation of the new floor. Good luck. any questions please e-mail me. Jay Gerlick |
