Idea,

I'm in LA, have been a licensed A/C contractor for over 20 years, and would be glad to reasonably recharge your system on Friday night or Saturday?

Which refrigerant is your bus using, R22, R134a, or one or the substitute blends for R12?

George,

No kidding RC, what a great guy and thanks for this board and people. I just got off the phone with George and he is willing to meet me any time Friday night or Saturday and fix me up..unbelievable.

Now I need to find the condenser motor and I'll be golden.

Bill if it is the Bus A/C you might try These guys in West Sacramento off I-80 in West Sacramento. They take care of all the buses.

Call 800-777-4101; MCI in Los Alamitos, CA. Not that far from Disneyland. ABC in LA might have one too.

Maybe RJ Long will jump in here...he's in Fresno and knows a lot of suppliers, etc. As I recall, he has contact information in his profile that may be helpful.

Best wishes to you ...and to George! :-)

Another thought...try Arizona Bus Sales in Phoenix...they may have a suggestion or two for you. A while back they had a bunch of MCI Coaches...don't know about just parts...could be. Ian had them on this board as advertisers.

Thanks guys for all of the help. I am settled in Oakland tonight and thanks to a couple of great people have everything arranged for a ac fix on Saturday in LA. Got a new condenser motor delivered to my hotel in Anahiem Friday night, cost a little but worth it. Then George and I will tackle the problem in LA on Saturday while the passengers are at Disney.

Tommorrow will be a cooker, Oakland to Anaheim, but we are leaving at 6 30AM which will help a little.

Again, I don't post much but read everyday. If anyone is up Portland way please let me know.

We have a fix!

In spite of considerable adversity, which I won't go into, it all went well.

Meeting someone like Bill makes work into fun. We had a good time doing this!

It took about five hours to get the old motor, fan, and bracket out of the bus, and get the fan hub off the old motor in condition to be installed on the new motor, and less than an hour to recharge the system.

Thanks for letting us all know the outcome George.
So often we read of things that are happening or about something someone is working on, read the suggestions, then never find out the outcome.
I am glad it had a happy ending.

Just got settled after 2 days on the road now going north. A couple people had to ask me to turn down the a/c today. Are you kidding last Friday it was 105 in the bus. Anyway thanls to George and his unbelievable offer to give up a Saturday, as he said it wasn't easy but the old ball of rust came out and a brand new MCI original fan motor went in, George put his guages on there and now it's colder than ever.

Thanks to George we got home comfortable and cool.
