All 8V71's had them. Lie them? I don't have much of a choice, and I wouldn't consider operating without mine. Downside? There is none! ...JJ |

Mel - The mousetraps were first installed on the 4106 and later model GMCs w/ the 8V71 engines and manual transmissions, as JJ said. IIRC, this also includes Fishbowl transits of the same vintage ordered with a manual box. If you're not already aware, the 8V71-powered GMCs have the bevel gearset between the clutch and the transmission, not like your 4104, which has the bevels after the gearbox. With this different powertrain configuration, GM mounted the mousetrap on the gearbox of these coaches. This is not to say that one wouldn't work on a 4104, I believe Bart V. out of British Columbia has a modified one on his coach. Advantage: When ALL the clutch linkage is properly adjusted by DA BOOK, it makes the clutch almost as light as a VW Bug (first generation, not a New Beetle). Disadvantage: When the springs lose their tension, the clutch gets real heavy. Fast Fred does have one on his 4106, as do I. HTH, RJ PD4106-2784 Fresno CA |

RJ You stated that the 8v-71 powered GMCs had the Mousetrap installed on the gearcase. Did this also include the 4107s with the wet clutch? Thanks in advance for your reply. J Meyers |

J - TTBOMK, the 4106s, 4107s, 4108s, 4903s and 4905s with manual gearboxes all came with the mousetrap, regardless of wet or dry clutch. HTH, RJ |

I guess mine needs adjusted, since it tires me out sitting at a light! Now that I have Da Book, I guess I better use it! Steve Toomey PAbusnut |

I have the maintance and the parts manual for our 4107. We have the wet clutch with manual transmission. I can find no mention of the mousetrap in either one. Our bus does not have the mousetrap installed on it, must have been an option . I guess their must be a supplement for the 4107 too? To RJ If you would be so kind as to tell us where our bus started it,s life we would greatly appreciate it. PD4107-1076 Thanks Again in advance J Meyers |
