Should we put some kind of undercoating beneath the 3/4 plywood floor to protect the wood from the road? If you have used something, what was it and where can I purchase it?

Prevost used Sprayed on Urethane foam for insullation and undrcoating. They did the wheel wells too. Early 1980s Prevost conversion shells had plywood bay floors like yours. Passenger models had metal bay floors.

My old RV used some kind of tin, almumimn I think, and it eventually has corroded away.

I am putting plywood down on my new storage compartments on the RTS, and the side that will be facing the street and the ends will be coated with Kool Seal. after installing in the bay, I will seal the sides with silicone.

Some folks have serious problems with KoolSeal but my RV was sealed with KoolSeal 15 yars ago to stop leaks and it has never leaked since. It is a lot tougher than most folks care to admit to. It has to be with me climbing on it all the time.

CoolSeal applies with a roller, do 2 or three coats, follow the directions and it should be fine. If you have doubts, I think GM used some kind of sealer to the floors, so you could try to duplicate that senario and KoolSeal on top.

The bottom side of the ply does not see a huge amount of abuse other than weather. You should have no problem once completed.
