Good mornin' gentlemen, I have a model "05 Eagle and have already installed new floor covering, so my only option is from under the floor. What is the easiest least expensive way to insulate the floor ?? |

Don't know if it is the least expensive or not but I would look at the spray in foam. You can hire it done or get the two part kits. Up here it is called Tiger foam. Comes in what looks like two 20 pound propane tanks and is sprayed on,mixing as it applies. It is closed cell foam so total air blocker and is rated at R7 per inch. Check it out. I did the whole interior of our coach and am very happy with it |

Roy It would be next to impossible to insulate now unless you could remove the new floor. I guess spray foam the top of the compartments would be your only option. The gain in retaining the cool A/C air wouldn't really be worth the trouble or expense. I would just live with it and enjoy the coach. Bill |

the biggest advantage to spraying the underside of the compartments besides the heat/cool loss factor is noise reduction. get rid of a lot of road and wind noise plus you wont have any squeaks in the floor when you walk across it. Foam adds a lot of rigidity |

Eagles are pretty easy to install the blue foam board under the floor from the bays and everywhere. I used the 2 inch board in mine after the conversion filling the cracks with spray cans of foam covered it with 1/4 inch plywood and carpet had finished bays when through it's not hard and with spray foam if you ever need to get into the tunnel you have a problem board is the cheapest, easiest and best in MO on a Eagle but we all do it different mine was sprayed on the sides and top fwiw was a mess grinding that stuff lol good luck (Message edited by luvrbus on June 24, 2011) |

There is a home construction product called HOMOSOTE which is compressed cellulose, like the cardboard at the end of a writing tablet This material is 1/2 thick & easily applied with drywall screws. It comes as either 4x4 ft or 4x8 ft. sheets & with or W/O a moisture sealant on one side It does NOT have the R-7 rating of foam BUT it does offer a lot of sound deadening in comparison to foam. I used this as an underlayment between the original plywood floor & the carpet pad with poly in between for vapor barrier.... fwiw |
