just tried to explain it...the guy got mad...he has a bus with a 6v71 engine in it....maybe I'm wrong...he said he went to WWW.detroitdiesel.com & that was the engine he had...

yep...but so far as I know...they never made a 6v71....

DD made thousands of 6V71s. Installed in most of the GM transits up until the late 70s.

Yeah, Detroits are SOSSSS cool! They made 2-53's, 3-53's, 4-53's, 6V53's, 8V53's, 3-71's, 4-71's,...

...6-71's, 6V71's, 8V71's, 12V71's, 24V71's, 6V92's, 8V92's, 12V92's, 16V92's, plus a whole lot of V-149's,...

...plus not counting all the older stuff that I have no idea of whatsoever of like the 6-110. Detroits Forever!!!

they also made a 1-71..... really neat looking... and it'a collectors item... there was 1 on ebay a couple yrs ago... had a $8k reserve....

First digit = number of cylinders

V = V-configuration, otherwise straight

3rd-4th digits = Cubic inches per cylinder

2 stroke DD's are cool. I first worked on 12V71's on the old LCM-8 landing craft in the navy.

If it's not "weeping" a little, and you can't smell it, then you're not running it hard enough.
