For a very long time my 4104 has always taken a lot of revelutions to get it started( maybe 20/30. once started no smoke no matter what, no problem to restat. However recently I noticed when it first started the first three cylinders would fire, then it would take afew seconds before the last three would fire( 671).
Tonight I pulled all the fuel lines to replace with new,and I found fuel in the two leaving the head and going back to the fuel tank. But the line from the fuel pump to the filter and from the filter to the head had only a few drops of fuel. Maybe this has been my problem in slow starts and now the slow cylinders starting. Do the 671,s have a check valve? could this be a problem? Is lack of fuel in these ines normal??
I would very much appreciate any input.
John

Yes John, they have a check valve. Usually installed in the inlet side of the primary fuel filter. It's a big thing that can be taken apart & cleaned or just replaced. Can be bought at DD dealers.

Mine starts in 1/4 revolution after sitting for weeks.

You also have some sort of leak that is allowing the fuel to go back to the tank. Could be a fitting or the fuel pump shaft seal or ?

Fix the check valve & the rest may not matter.

on checking my 671 tonight the fuel is full in the line from the bulk head through the check valve to the primary filter. Full of fuel from the primary filter to the fuel pump. Just not full on the other side off the pump though the secondary filter to the block?
