the "man show" 5105 has an escape door on the drivers side, about 12' from the back... it's only about 4' tall, hinged on the front...has a window in the door, and 1 in the bus body above it....i kinda like the idea of having an escape route, but i'm having trouble incorporating it into my floor plan....this is about where i'd put a bathroom wall, if the door wasn't in the way....i'm not going to remove it, but may have to seal over it.... any ideas????? |

The 4104 has that door. But it's between the rear wheel & the back of the bus. If you don't keep it, you will need to provide a reasonable egress door or window back there somewhere. If there were a fire in the front of the bus, say in the middle of the night, how do you get out of the rear bedroom? The escape door is fairly high already when you go to jump to the ground. If you had to jump from window height it wouldn't be fun. That said, I can't stress enough that if you build over it inside, go ahead & remove the door & skin over it properly & permanently. Doors & windows sealed in will leak or the glass break & you have no way to repair it. I have a bus converted by someone else that has windows that I can not open to replace the cracked glass without destroying the walls to get to the window latches! Make your shell watertight before proceding. |
