I have two problems with my 4106 8v71 I don't think they have anything related but the first one is my fast ideal quit working. I see the air pressure go down when I turn it on. Problem number two is when I went to the back where the motor is.(to see why the fast ideal is not working) also to push on the throttle to help build air up. I didn't rise the rpms no higher then what the fast ideal would do. all of a sudden white smoke poured out and the sound of the motor changed made like a raddeling sound.(Man scaired the crap out of me) when I let off the throttle it quit. Ideal fine like always. But pushed on the throttle lever again. It did it again.Wow got me again. So I cut off the motor. I did hear a air leak at the fast ideal cylinder. I could not find where it was comimg from. Any ideas what could be wrong and where to start Thanks |

The white smoke and rattling in the engine could be air getting into the fuel lines-- are you low on fuel? |

20 gallons is not enough-- you could be easily sucking air along with the fuel. |

Well, it seems plain that you have an air leak somewhere in the fast idle circuit, you need to repair that leak. If it is inside the fast idle cylinder itself there may be a kit to rebuild it. Brian |

you need to put fuel in it first , you are very close to a starvation of fuel , mine quit running right around that point, and you really dont want that to happen. Frank Allen 4106 |

If you do run it out of fuel (like I did once) don't try to re-start but drop the filters and fill them first. Other wise you will have to purge the air out of the system. Also the fast idle cylinder on mine uses a leather seal. Real eazy to fix for short term. Just take apart and lube the leather seal and put back together. |
