Time keeps ticking , and I have not been making a lot of progress on some of my projects. I keep getting called to do work for which I am getting well payed and thankfull for, even having joined the ranks of the retired. Though the wife threathened that I might sleep in the next bus that I might bring home, she actually found this one and is very happy and pleased that we now have a ready to use unit whenever the fancy strikes us. The trip back from Dalles went well, bus rode great, ample power with 5speed auto cruise and jake. Generator with airs to keep me cool. Man I was on top of the world untill we got to a little place in Montana called Malta, where the engine stopped and I was able to coast into a bulkfilling station at least off the road. Scratced my head and let the thing cool down and was getting ready to try and read some error codes off the DDEC and decided to check the dipstick. Oil consumption had been nil in 1500 miles and remained nice and clean. Getting and changing the oil is a story for another topic. When I pulled the dipstick there was coolent on top of the oil, about 1.5 inches which became a foot higher a couple of hours later so all the coolant has ended up in the sump. Dallas (not Houston) we have a problem!!!!!!! The owner of the place where I got stranded was most accommadating and he even gave me the use of a pickup so I could go into Town when I needed to. Typical small town friendliness that is becoming a rare commodity. Arranged with a towing company out of Lethbridge to Landoll me home, 600 miles Ouch, so now we are back home in the yard. My guess as to the cause of the problem, would be Turbo, sleeve seal or engine oil cooler. Would appreciate from all the resident experts their opinions as to where the problem might be. 8v92 DDEC Joe. |

Ok here goes Joe,pull the air box covers if you have water coming from the inside of the liner it will be a top end problem, water on the outside of the liner a seal problem, water coming from the back of the engine staying on the bottom of the air box that will be a after cooler problem then you have the air compressor that will dump water, the cooler when bad makes oil in the radiator sorry about your troubles the water pump has a weep hole to drain to the outside that should not be a problem sounds like a head to me good luck (Message edited by luvrbus on July 25, 2011) (Message edited by luvrbus on July 25, 2011) |
