Cable!! There is a line coming from the fan to a cooler on the back side of the engine and it is in the front section. Take the line loose and put in a pop rivet and retightn it up and check for leaks and hit the road. The cooler has a t-stat operation in it and controls the flow of oil thru the clutch fan. Gomer |

If there is an anti freez mix , dump it and go with water and a water pump lube can or two. Water is a far better coolant than antifreez. FF |

4104's are direct driven off the crankshaft. Do make sure the blade does not wiggle or appear to have any looseness. It is mounted with a rubber cushion. Any looseness will warn of blade coming loose in near future and going thru radiator. |

Just talked to Kevins wife. Late last night they blocked the oil return line from the fan clutch and are on their way. All seems okay. Bill |

While I never had an overheating hassle , that oil return line was for me a real challenge. I had an oil leak I just couldn't find. The oil thermostatic valve would send oil to the fan clutch as required when the temp went up, but as most times in looking for the leak, the ideling engine would get no where near warm enough to fill the fan clutch , I couldn't find the leak. Crawling under , after a day long cruise, at a rest stop on top of a hill did it. FF |

Kevin and Traci made it to Ogallala, NE. and the coach shut down. It smells like burned plastic inside and out. The temp gauge read 190 at shutdown. It smoked white for a while but quit before they could find the source. Any busnuts close? They could use some help...Cable |

Sounds like a tripped emergency shutdown flapper or a broken blower shaft. My first check would be the flapper, if it is tripped it has to be manually reset. |

Kevin said the blower shards got into the engine. Looks like a $6K in frame. Will take a few weeks. They're gonna rent a car and go home tomorrow. Then come back when it's done. Interesting side note. The emergency shut down flapper was wired open. Scary! They were lucky. I hope he wrote this all down so he gets it all right when he tells the story. Which I'm sure he will...Cable |
