Anyone have any ideas for a good way to lock her up. I want to be able to lock everything from bumper to bumper. I think I've got the entry door figured out but the bays, fuel doors, and engine compartment are unsecure.

Anythoughts?

Don't forget that the LP door has to be unlocked.

I believe the genset compartment door must also be unlocked according to some code somewhere.

Richard, If the genset must be unlocked then why do some of the motor home manufactures have the slideout systems for their gensets that have to be controled from the inside of the motor home? Just curious.

i DO NOT BELEIVE THERE IS ANY LAW just codes for manufacturers ....main reason for LP and genset compartments being open is for fire department access. of course the FD won't know where they are unless you tell them or have a big placard there.

Well, this idea will only work if you want to section off types compartments, IE: engine, fuel, storage, tanks.

Remember when Men were men and cars were cars, and the kid down the road would soup up his car so it would beat all the other kids cars. Then to make it really look "cool" they bought those HOOD LOCKS, that use a barrel key. 1/4 turn locks the hood. You get two locks on the same key. I you look at the key codes, sometimes you can find duplicate locks. Installs like a bolt and nut. Easy to operate, 1/4 turn locked, 1/4 turn unlocked. It will also work as the latch if you set it up that way.

Another site has a gentlemens idea for electric door locks, like they use in a car. when he arrived to his destination, hit a button and all is open. when done, hit a button, all is locked.
All electronics company sells the 12vdc solenoids for about 6 bucks each. They were used for a car door lock system.

Buldogie, I really do not know. I believe I have also seen commercial built RV's with locking genset compartments. Think it may be a RVIA requirement, or it may just be another old wives tale. Thats why I prefaced the statement with "I believe".
