When having the front end jacked up last week I checked for play in both front wheels. Top to bottom, they were tight with zero play . Is this an exceptable way to check for play/worn out King Pins and Bushings?? John |

did you use a tire iron to push...or your hands...bus tires are alot heavier than car tires, |

Two D's has it right-- to check the king pins you only jack the wheel up high enough to get a long, flat bar underneath the tire then you pry up and let down to check the free play, and where (if any) the free play is coming from-- either the wheel bearings or the king pins/bushings. This tells you if the bushing are worn out or the wheel bearing loose. Also, the jack should be as close to the tire as possible, i.e. not under the middle of the bus. |
