Woa Jack, you are a member of a-whole gang. I never knew. I am impressed. Although I fell on a sea shell once at the beach and made a really neat impression on myself! But then it went away. Chromie |

...maybe the internet 2 will save us from these hacking fiends that are likely paid and empowered by the same paid government shills flogging the internet 2; ~which that fake president you-all pay your taxes to has signed a presidential order to test on 11/11/11 =to make the internet safer from being exposed to the public like has been happening on this internet of there criminal rackteering scams, which well all built with the sweet of our fingers and our hard earned money and data -and eye only say this as a prelude to the latest from the US Government expanding the old money grab game for more governed: just announced this morning in the new policy to inspect on farm machines , certify & commercial drivers licence the operators annually along with a similar package aim at recreation vehicles with annual safety inspections and commercial driver licencing for the operators, as in all of you that aren't already commercial drivers, oh and annual medicals for all commercial drivers of all ages ~but I won't go further as I don't know how to work something about buses into the much grander scams |

Here's a quote from The Register, an IT news outlet. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/08/13/oscommerce_infection_threatens_web/
quote:He said a fix has been available since November's release of osCommerce Online Merchant v2.3. The steadily climbing number of infected webpages suggests that a large percentage of osCommerce websites can't be bothered to install it. And that means people visiting those ecommerce websites are being unnecessarily exposed to attacks. ®
The fix has been available since before the exploit was widely known. Seems like some website owners might be the real jerks here. PS. If you're using Internet Explorer version 6 you're part of the problem. |

Cullen, it's not that they can't be bothered to update, it has more to do with their installation methods. Most of the control panels I've worked with have Fantastico installed which allows the domain owner to install software automatically, but... when they try to upgrade, nothing works right afterward, and they have no idea how to fix it, so they just stay with the original installation. The unfortunate truth is that anyone can buy a domain name and webhosting and play to their hearts content, but, when they find there is some real knowledge needed to actually be a website admin, they get beyond their depth quickly and that leaves the whole website open to attack and even takeover. |

FYI, No osCommerce here at BNO. Our web site's home page recommends Firefox as the preferred browser and my servers continually run chokes to prevent attacks. Not saying it can't happen, but it hasn't so far and I stay with licensed, reputable service providers who actually KNOW when they are being hacked. We can only do so much from here, so install anti-virus software on your computer today. If you don't, it's like not wearing a condom with about the same results and you pretty much deserve to get infected by a computer virus. Widely available & FREE, if you're too cheap to buy it. But please don't think it's not necessary. Ian www.busnut.com |

Gotta agree with Ian... If you think your above paying for AV software, download free versions. A couple of the free ones are the very best there is. AVG, http://free.avg.com/us-en/homepage and AVAST, http://www.avast.com/index They are the only ones I use for my own systems, and the only ones I recommend to my customers. In my personal experience, the work better than Nortons and McAfee and don't slow your system down nearly as much. Here is the caveat: Either of the versions of AVG or Avast will try to get you to install the paid version, it's in their nature, and I do believe they deserve the money. However, if you are short of budget or just too cheap, make sure you get the free version. Neither one has popups or adware, so don't worry about that. They both work well. Next: Adware and spyware.... My choice is Malwarebytes: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804 572&subj=dl&tag=button Another free software download. It works well, but is not as robust as the paid version and you'll need to run it manually. I never let it start with Windows, not because it takes too long, but starting Win as cleanly as possible lets me know when there might be a problem in other areas if it takes too long to load. Good luck with your choices and don't always blame a website for what might be coming from other places. |

Not any more, Les! Respectfully, false info, sir. Since Mac OS has included the Intel Windows adaptor, it, too, is vulnerable :-( Sad, but true. Ian www.busnut.com |

True Ian but the only time it is vulnerable to the PC viruses is when you run a PC or windows based program. We have been running 0S 10 with no anti virus for a long time. I can open anything without worry about catching a bad cold. I do run a few PC programs like windows media player and if I get something infected the computer just won't open it. I can open it under a different program like Keynote and have no problems. |

MIKE: "since you have been called an internet gang member of sorts" Are you sure you dint live just down the road from me 60 years ago? My Dad used to say... He's like a gang of Flies all by himself... you don't want to know what drew him here, you can't ignore or get rid of him and swatting is an exercise in frustration.... all you can do is try to ignore him & hope a strong wind comes along & blows him down the road! fwiw |

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12537279/ Just because there are fewer MAC viruses than PC viruses doesn't mean that they don't exist. There are far more PCs than MACs in use so they simply are not targeted as much. Criminal types go for the most bang for their attempt, so they are going to target the most popular OS. There are very few NT 4.0 viruses created either, not because it is a safe platform, but because very few people use it anymore. |

Well then good! you guys keep using PC's so that us lowly mac users can enjoy our computers without the threat of the nasties. Keep up the good work! Because we lowly Mac users sort of brag about not having virus problems, you would think that some of these nose bleeds that create these problems would consider it a challenge and try to do something.... So far. NADA!!! |
