Doesn't seem to be much activity on this Eagle site, so I thought I would just add one. I just finished installing a Ross power steering unit in my O-5, I believe if I had it to do over, I probably would just trade the old gal for a newer one.:) It works great, but was a big big job. I also installed a side door in the second bay area, and we love that, completly skined over the original door and made a flat floor for the co-pilots chair. We like the ability to have a screen door and the ability to sit side by side in front.

No pictures available just yet, I have pics, but have only this week upgraded my computer, and now will add a scanner to be able to send some photos.
I have a long way to go yet, before it is road ready. I have replaced all the bus windows with Herr RV type sliders with screens, have a five footer on each side of the front (living room) a four foot window, left side over the dinette, another pair of five footers on each side in the rear bedroom, and a two foot one over the sink in the bath. Walk through bath, with vanity on the right side of coach and stool and shower on the left side. Have an 8KW diesel genset mounted where the bus A/C compressor used to be, mounted the genset on a pivot mounting so that it swings completly out for service, and to allow access to the right side of the 8V71. Probably would have been easier just to send pics. :)

When I closed off the bus door, I did not raise the drivers floor, I merely extended that level across the front, so that both front seats were at the same level. I have not raised the roof on this coach, for many reasons, but mostly because I did not want to mess with the additional hight and lack of clearance problems. So keeping the step down to the drivers area works out very well. The side door and the stairway take up the complete second bay on the curb side. The stairway is 34 inches wide inside, You enter into a flat area, and the stairs do a twist and ascend toward the rear. The other side of the second bay holds my spare tire, tool box and propane furnace. The furnace is mounted to the top of the bay(actually the floor of the coach)and ducted into the living area of the bus.My propane tanks (2 forty pounders) are mounted under the entry stairs, and are accesable through a cafe atyle door just aft of the entry door. The entire propane tank area is sealed from the other parts of the bay, and vented through the floor.
The windows were a real bargin, I picked them up along with the side door at one of the surplus stores in Elkhart Indiana. I paid $90.00 for the complete door assy. including screen door and all locks and keys, The door was new. I paid $25.OO each for the Herr sliders, they are 28" X 60", they are only single pane windows, but came with all trim and hardware, the windows also were new.
Hope this answers some of your questions,
Mrbus

Terrance hello again. If you get so spirited to
send pictures, bless me with a few. We are preparing to look for an Eagle and do appreciate any ideas that are available. Dave

Dave,

Still have not had time to adapt my pictures to the computer, but hopefully will get this accomplished soon. Have had to spend too much valuable time at the great land of the Mayo Clinic, it sure cuts into my bus building time. I have spent the greater part of the last three years involved in a hard fought battle with cancer, and am just now starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Last check ups say no new cancer, and everything else seems to be on the mend. So as soon as possible I will get back to the pictures.

I am new to this site and am looking for info. I purchased my 01 several years ago, and only recently, built a garage big enough to house my unit. Now that I have it indoors, I barted the engine rebuild (out of chasis) and also a 5 speed.Being a cabinet maker/ carpenter, it was a good barter. Now the fun began! Besides gutting and all the rest.... I raised the roof 6". I am proud that I did it my self because me and metal do not get along!Since I won that battle, I got brave a stretched it to 45'. I am 95% done that. Still braver (or ignorant) I raised the drivers area (windshields) 14" and the floor 16" to have a flat floor.I am learning to mig (that is cool stuff)!Anyway, getting to the infor I am looking for......and I am starving for it...... first of all... anyone in lower New England that I could look and see thier coach to get measurements off of? My coach looks like a rolling bird cage right now!I am almost to the point of assembly or shortly there a bouts and really need to see how some things are done/ attached. Secondly....I want to change to power steering. Finding a (TAS) box and vicors pump is like finding a needle in a haystack and when I do,it seems to be worth more than gold to whoever has it! Thirdly, I now want to take the 5 speed out (anyone looking for a 5 speed) and put in a ht 740 (another gold item)! Can anyone help me or am I asking for too much? My wife says I am ALWAYS doing that.VERN

Good advise is always hard to find, but I paid close attention when Terrance said he would trade rather than put power steering on an Eagle. Unfortunately for my wife, I now have two birds in the back yard. The first one I bought is a 1969 model 05, with a four speed and 8V71. I was in search of parts and found a 1972 05 that a college had owned for 15 years. It has a brand new 8V71, Allison automatic, new radiator, new brakes, 10 caps, auxiliary air, and updated interior. I had to rebuild the drop box and it was road ready. The rebuild cost a total of $288.00 in parts! Anyway, I need a generator if anybody knows of a 12-15k used. Also any advise ( so long as it is free!)
