Latest pictures have been posted at http://www.shadowhost.com/mci/conversion7.html

Does anyone know of a latch which would be flush mounted and lockable to replace the MCI 'T' handle for the engine compartment doors?

Just the yet to be removed protective plastic on the frp skin.

I was hoping it would blow off during the trip home :)

Hi Cpt Ron.. if you start at www.shadowhost.com/mci/conversion.html and go through the pages, you will see how I installed the frp.

While it looks like a good idea, I don't think I would use it again.

Laird Plastics are all over North America, and should be able to supply a sample if Kemlite won't.

Bob, what were the dimensions of the steel tubing you used and was it thin wall or thick? Sure lookes nice but why not do it that way? to much trouble?

Hi Bulldogie

The tubing is 1.5 inch square tubing .100 wall..

I am assuming you mean not using the frp again.. The frp is very rubbery, and would not be suitable as a skin by itself. As you could see through my conversion pictures, I had to put sheet metal on the frame, and then bond the frp to the sheet metal. If I were to do it again, I think I would just go for a thicker sheet metal.

Needless to say, I was warned after I purchased the frp that it was rubbery. One other problem that isn't so apparent in the pictures, but can be seen in a certain light, is that the frp does show where the glue lines are between it and the metal. Its not a harsh line, but is noticeable to me.

Thanks for all the other compliments.. it means alot coming from other converters!

Try clicking this link: My MC7 Conversion

I added a navigation menu last night, so it will be easier to get around the different pages.
