ok guys i am covering the windows of the old crown i need to know what is the best metal to metal adhesive to use to not only seal the screw holes but also adhere the panels to the ribs. would like to feel as though i am getting back the latteral stability i am loosing by taking all the sheet metal out of the inside of the bus out so i not only want to seal the panels but also really make the panels stick to the ribs as usual thanks |

Hey Doug, Everyone in the industry that I have talk to have said to use Sikaflex 252. You can get it at International Bus Parts in Florida. 1-800-468-5287. Give them a call. Great bunch of people that don't mind answering questions. I found it on the internet and they have a dealer location on their web site. A little expensive, but everyone says it works I haven't used the case I got yet. Good Luck Larry (Oregon) |

I can endorse Sikaflex. We use it all of the time. 3M 5200 also. Drying time is 24-48 hours for metal to metal and read the instructions. They are expensive but they really are the best. Mike |

U can get Sikaflex locally if u look around. U can also go to any Loews or Home Depot and buy a construction grade urethane adhesive, which is what Sikaflex is, for a lot less money and works just as good |

Make sure you get some instructions on Sikaflex. There are none on the tubes of adhesive. Call their tech dept.& they will e-mail C Ray |

There is a video advertised here on BNO at http://www.busnut.com/seecs.html titled "Bonding Steel Over Window Openings" that shows how one coach had the openings covered using Sikaflex 252. |

I run a commercial sign shop building large aluminum signs. We bond aluminum to aluminum and steel to steel all the time here with Lord Adhesives 2-part adhesive products. This stuff is expensive and has a very limited working time but the bond is really amazing, I have never been able to seperate the parts. We had a U.L. inspector test one of our signs and the metal failed before the adhesive did. I have heard great things about Silkaflex too. |

From the BTDT Department, there is absolutely NOTHING available at Lowe's/Home Depot that is comparable to 5200 or 252.Even their 50 yr. urethane sealant/caulk is only good for two years, and when you try to get it warrantied they only offer to replace the tube. Lots of time and money associated with replacing the junk they sell. Cheers...JJ |
