Does anybody know the SAE housing size for the 6-71 in a 4104? I am 800 miles from my bus so I can't look there. I am looking at another engine I want to buy and measured the bolt circle and the housing O.D. both but they come up between SAE 1 and 2. My charts do not show a 1 1/2 housing. Can anybody measure the bolt circle of an engine or trans & let me know?

Jim

I went to the barn and measured the following,6v71 with Spicer transmission attached. This is the one had to grunt last week to torque the flywheel bolts, but it is now mated together, Transmission bellhousing outside measurement is 21 1/2 inches, boltspacing circle is 20 1/2 inches and engine flywheel housing is about a quater inch wider all around the circomference than the transmission housing but somewhat irregular (not perfectly round)

As far as I know this is a SAE #1

Hope this helps Joe.

Twin Disk Torque Converters used a weird size bellhousing on the DD,are you sure it is not a step down adapter on a SAE 1

good luck

I don't think so, it was in a TDH4512 and had an Allison VH on it.
This F/W housing bolt circle is 19" and the O.D. of the engine housing casting is 20". That's midway between SAE 1 & 2 sort of 1 1/2.
I'll be bummed if I have to change the gear/flywheel housing. I'm buying the engine for the external 4104/stick specific parts to convert another 6-71 I have.
