I have been told that you SHOULD run regular motor oil in a HT740 - I think 15W-30. Anyone doing this? If I convert over, do I just drain the ATF and change the filters? Will the residual ATF & motor oil mix together OK? Mark Radius 1981 MC-9 |

Hello Mark. I'd stick with ATF for your 740. If you want to change to something else, consider a switch to synthetic. Many here will vouch for a reduction of around 10 degrees Farenheit in transmission operating temps, just by switching. There is an Allsion synthetic, and Amsoil makes an equivalent fluid. It might be said that heat is what wears out transmissions... happy coaching! buswarrior |

Mark I switched to Allisons Synthtic fluid and it not only reduced the temp. it also made the shifting a lot smoother and I mean a lot. |

We bought our MC-9 from Seattle Gray Lines and I was told that I could change over to Delo 400 15w-40. It currently has ATF in it. |

J.C. - got your other message about Dexron and synthetic mixible, and replied with a "Thanks", but apparently that message was lost in the recent website "hiccup". Anyway, thanks again, I'm going with the synthetic. |
