I'm not sure what your setup looks like, but you might try putting a bottle jack under the king pin and beating the axle down with a small sledge hammer so the pin will pop out. You may also need to heat the housing up with a rose bud torch. |

Never done King pins John but when doing ball joints all the beating in the world on the top of them won't move 'em. TAP once or twice on the SIDE and they fall out!!!!! Learned that from an old mechanic after trying to beat a set out for two days. |

Well Nick, besides having had my fair share of replacing king pins and ball joints, I can safely say that relatively few times in my career have I been lucky enough to have something come apart with a couple of taps to the side. Worn king pins can almost slide right out... or need to be pressed out; depends a great deal on their condition. A little heat (or a lot) around the outside, a piece of 1" shaft or something like it, to drive the king pin out, and a sledgehammer to hit it, ought to do the trick. You need to make certain the axle is supported solidly. Brian |

The rear break, shoes, drums, bags, bearings last year was a breeze compaired to these king pins. I thought it was hard geting to them and getting them out. Boy its quite a task puting them back together, line up shims etc. John |
