i know we all check out our rigs before hitting the road. with all the high profile bus crashs and the states looking for some easy money from truckers and coach companies, can RV's be far behind? This is a list of the top 25 commercial truck infractions. Altho lights ands tires should be no brainers most truckers will tell you if the DOT want to write you up they will find somthing. Anybody been pulled over and had their bus checked out? http://www.expeditersonline.com/trucking/In_The_News_2/Top_25_CSA_violations.html

Not yet.

But when out of Fl (registration state) I am nasty enough to operate at the posted speed limits.

An out of state vehicle has a huge bulls eye , that sex , no problems with the local voters giving this guy a ticket.

It doesn't happen often, but it will unless the RV and Blue Hair lobbies keep the pressure up on the Liars in Charge.
Not many years ago, in Charlotte, the Tax guys came in and stuck any diesel tank at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Those with red diesel were sited for running off road diesel on public roads.....
When it was found that some of those with 'red diesel' actually had ATF in the tank to clean out the injectors, the cases were dropped. Unfortunately, the onus was put on the owner, to prove innocence... not on the tax people to prove guilt.
On another note, in our town they have a revenue enhancement policy. Out of State RV's get stopped for 61 in the 60 mph zone, then the officer has a chance to look the unit over as he's walking up to it. Worn tires, lights out, odd sounds from the inside are all probable cause for a more thorough search.
We had one bus friend that got stopped because he was weaving on the road. When stopped, the cop asked him why and he said he was avoiding a wild hog that had been run over. The cop had to avoid it also since he was behind the bus, but the bus owner still got a ticket for reckless driving or reckless endangerment, I forget which.
It doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen, unlike Society Hill, SC where if you get stopped, you WILL get a ticket for something, and it WILL cost you $250 + court costs.

My recommendation? CYA!

It's probably not still the case but years ago, if you were illegally parked in Dothan, Alabama and had out of state tags, you would get a courtesy tickets thanking you for visiting their city.

Such a simple thing, but a courtesy that I have never forgotten.

Got stopped in Harrisonburg Va on I-81 and just had gotten blown off the road by a trucker going by me and the cop pulls me over and wanted to know where my fuel sticker was and I explained to him this is a private coach and doesn't require on and he gave me a ticket for failure to obey road sign. $32.50 at that time.LOL

When I bought my bus in '07, I got thinking that I had no idea what this thing has been doing for the last 54 years, so I got talking to a good friend who happens to be a NYS Trooper w/K-9/drug sniffing doggie. I had her bring "Artie" over for a sniff through my bus. We cross the border often & I would hate to lose the bus to something I had no control over. Artie found nothing inside or out, until he got to the front bumper & went nuts over it. The master hid a small bag of weed there so Artie could be all he could be. Good Dog. And no, she would not leave me the treat.

When it was found that some of those with 'red diesel' actually had ATF in the tank to clean out the injectors,

The ATF was for lubricating the injectors after the sulfur (a lubricant)was removed from diesel.

Some folks today will use a gallon of 2 stroke outboard oil to every 100-120 gal refill.
