When licensing my '82 Prevost, my wife was asked how much it weighed. She didn't get this taken care of because she didn't know. I was going to save myself a trip across a certified scale if anyone out there knows what a motorcoach such as this weighs. I have not started the conversion process yet, so it is still in "transit mode" with 47 passenger seats and a restroom (40' long) Thanks in advance! |

Your GVW should be somewhere in the 40,000 lb range although as a conversion you may be under that. Registration is usually based on GVW or the most you expect to weigh fully loaded. Somewhere on the bus there should be a label with axle weights and tire sizes. Use those numbers to be safe. -- Unless you are going to use marble, corian, lead sheeting and lead/foam materials!!--- Jim |

Also you can go to your local friendly truck stop with a certified scale and weight your bus. You can even do each corner and get the load on each wheel or axle end, including the tag axle. The cost is minimal (usually around 5 bucks) and it will give you a good starting point. Good luck. |

Eagle and your bus are about the same construction....my Eagle weighs 30,000....but....usually they want a weight certificate, from a certified scale...just in case anybody is curious...I took 2,000 pounds of seats out...& replaced with 2,000 of 'household' stuff.... |

Or just go to a closed weigh station and roll it across the scales--for free! That's what I've done several times. I get weights for my front, drive, and tag axle that way. (They apparently just leave the scales on so truckers can weigh themselves and know if they have "weight issues.") Henry Draper '64 Eagle Edmonds, WA |

I have done the same thing that Henry has done. It might be though that you will need a pair of binoculars if the read out is too small to see from the window. I have never had anyone come in and be in a hurry for me to get out of the way either. |

And one of the scales that they leave open is right across the freeway from Southern Oregon diesel. As Henry says, it's free! For what it's worth. Tom Caffrey PD4106-2576 Suncatcher |

Greetings For a title change, at least in Texas, they want a "certified" weight certificate signed by someone with authority to do so before they will do the change. Interestingly enough, they wanted an empty weight for mine. The GWV is listed on the plate inside the bus. Cheers, Vern1 |

They would. Well then if nothing else you can use the "self serve" scales to make certain that the conversion is balanced on the axle weights. Another possibility for this type of activity when one does not need the certification, is to use the scale at a grain elevator. If there is a grain elevator in your area they sometimes have a remote readout for the scale. That way one would not even need to get out of the drivers seat to see what the vehicle weitght is as one drives across the scale. |

I went to my local grain elevator and they weighed me empty and loaded for free and gave me the weight ticket to go with it. I was doing a DITTY move in the Army. |
