Has anyone on here driven their conversion to Alaska and back? please post experience and problems encountered. I'm starting to prepare for this; probably in 2013, if fuel hasn't hit $10.00 per gal. by then

John,
I have been to to Idaho and back from Alaska in my bus. I have also done it several times in the class a. For me, the bus is the way to go. The only problem I had was... My wallet wasn't fat enough and I didn't have enough time to really enjoy everything there is to see. The most beautiful part of the trip is through the Canadian Rockies. If you have a small motor, you might wan't to take the Cassiar highway. This is the way a lot of truckers like to take, it is a lot flatter and save a little time and fuel on the trip. I have done the trip from Alaska to the lower 48's many times, if you have any questions you can message me. This trip is a must for everyone if you ask me.

Just come back - although was driving an Airstream Cutter with a bit higher power to weight ratio than my MC8, I wouldn't have had any problems getting the MC8 up there either. Either east or west route would be fine.
Would need to slow down for the frost heaves and be prepared for some fast steering-wheel-turning on the top of the world highway, but it would be doable provided the ferry would take you.

No, on second thoughts, skip Top of the World.
