I have the following components and need some direction as to how to put them all together including solanoid valves and relays. 1) 1 30K BTU Diesel fired water heater unit - 24 V 2) 1 Atwood electic 110v 10 gallon marine water heater with heat exchanger 3) 1 magenetic motor pump - 12V (can I use this to pump all 3 zones with a manifold and solinoid valves?) 4) 3 toe type heaters -12V I would like to heat my domestic hot water, heat the coach and use it to warm the engine. I plan on using the engine heat when underway. Thanks for your help. |

Arthur Your question is the same as Nelson's below, take a look at the answer I gave him with the link. That is how I set up my system using the similar components as you have. If you need more details holler. --Geoff '82 RTS CA |

Magnetic motors are great , as there is no seal to deal with, BUT most I have seen were sort of small. If you think it can pressurize a large system , have at it. You might prefer to just have a small magnetic to circ thru the baseboard and marine HW heater as the electric requirement would be tiny & lend itself to Boondockin. When pluged in you could use a second or third circuit & pumps to feed the electric thirsty toe kicks and have Zone heating. Mostly Zone heating is not required on a coach as the volume is so tiny , the complications seldom pay. Simplest is to heat the coach uniformly , with an electric wall unit to kick the temps up for a shower, to help get rid of the humidity. Works for me, FAST FRED |

I have Five Zones and I find it very useful. Each zone has it's own magnetic pump. Theya are the same pumps as solar systems use. Try a solar dealer for zone pumps for about $100 each. Yes it is more complicated, but it is nice. you could also probablu regulate the heat by having one circuit with zone fans and turning the fans on and off with individual thermostats. My system uses DOUBLE POLE LINE THERMOSTATS. They can handle 120 Volt line current to an electric heater (one pole) and the pump and fan for the hydronic zone heat for that zone on the other pole. |
