My coach is a 1966 Eagle Model '01. I had an airleak on the drivers side in the aft bay at the top of the bay in the right side of the opening. A bleed or pressure relief valve which was releasing air. I felt where the air was coming out and put my finger on the air source. Well all of a sudden I have a no air coming out of the relief valve. But a tremendous amount is coming out of the hole in the aft bulkhead. So I removed the line from the pressure relief valve and found it was lose in the hole in bulkhead. So pulled the copper line through the bulkhead and copper tubing was only about 14 inches long and nothing on the other end. WHERE DOES THIS LINE GO? If anyone is familiar with this line please let me me know. Wish I had a schematic of the airsystem. Bobby Sather Sather@charter.net |

Just a guess, but lots of air sounds like the compressor supply to the tanks or the air brake system (125 psi) On my RTS the air bags, throttle, etc. is part of a low pressure system (50 psi) Valve you mention sounds quite a bit like the overpressure valve for the tanks. Since it is copper, my guess is that you have lost the supply line from the compressor to the tanks. Fire up your rig and see if you can build up tank pressure. My bet is that you won't be able to. can't imagine....my 05 Eagle has nothing like that in the aft bay...it has to be maybe air supply to ,or from the air tank over the boagies....(one over each boagie) |

I also have an Eagle-01[1966 ] The valve that you are describing is a pressure relief valve.Check the two copper lines that exit that valve and see where they go. Mine were routed through the bulkhead between the battery compartment and drive axles. Over the years the condensation from these lines ran down inside the fender well, over the large hanger that supports the body. It looks like a huge buckle. The constant water rotted the hanger strap and the buckle part was just swinging in the breese! The body at that point dropped 3 inches.I managed to jack the weight off the buckle[ raise the body], and slip a plywood block [6 inches by 6 inches- glued and laminated into solid block] between the body and hanger arm.Now the body is close to where it should be, but I still need to get someone to install a new hanger bracket. I also have an air gauge located over the fuel tank to the left side. It doesn't appear to be hooked to the air brake system. I think it may be to the old bathroom sink, wich had a large preasure tank filled with water.Air pressure forced the water to the sink.My name is Doug Woodin, I live in Bunnell, Fl. |

another guess.... did your coach have a bathroom at 1 time??? it might be the pressure for the water tank... |

don't think so...unless 01's & 05's are that different...my 05 bathroom was in the rear on the pasenger side, tank was under r/r window & was run by an elec, water pump for sink... |

Thank you all for your input. Doug Woodin's reply seems to hit pretty close to the area of the lines. I also have a couple of lines that leave the pressure relief valve as he said. The line in question come from the valve and goes aft 11" to the bulkhead and then through the bulkhead and once through the bulkhead it make a 90 degree turn straight down for 3". When it makes this 90 degree turn in becomes quite flat and has a very even end on it. Does not look like it was broke, just straight across. Incidently, when the release of the air happened. I got a lot of water leaking out of the bottom of the panel where the line went through. Probably a pint or so of water. Did not seem to have any particular odor, just water released with the air. Any other thoughts would be appreciated. I put a cap on the relief valve where I removed the line and got good pressure after running the engine for a short time. However, I did not try to move coach until I know what has actually taken place. Thanks Bobby |
