What kind of glue did you guys use to attach your insulation panels to the roof and walls. I'll be using the double faced foam insulation panels (3/4", 1") from Lowes with a final layer of that 1/8 foil/vinyl faced water/prof?? cardboard?? sheeting. Some foam panels will be glued to the RTS S/S boby - some panels will be glued to other foam panels to double the tickness in some areas. Did you use: liquid nail contack cement hot glue gun etc Do I need to do anything special to make sure the foam does not squeak going down the road ?? Thanks .____________ /_][][]/____/[]_| 1989 RTS-II T70206 6V92-TA DDEC-II V731 4.10/24.5 *--O-----------O-* Daytona FL.-Hard Beaches/Soft Women (386)672-0571 |

Pete, Due to the lack of variety of different thicknesses of the Super Tuff-R available without buying complete pallet loads, I ended up using 2 x 3/4" and 2 x 1" layers in the ceiling, all of which will be sandwiched with some 1/4" ply or pre surfaced wallboard. This board will be attached through the 2 x 1" insulation to the existing roof bows with sheetmetal screws. This came to around R-25 in the roof. That's the plan so far. However to aid installation and to help stop any squeeking, I bought some spray adhesive 3M Super 77 from Lowes at the same time. Not designed to hold it up forever, but just to stop movement. Peter. |

Pete; I used the pink foam board on the floor, walls and roof of my 05 Eagle. Cut in widths from 1 1/2" to 6" wide. I used liquid nails to hold it in place. All joints were caulked with Red Devil caulk (got it at Big Lots because they had the best price),then covered the walls and ceiling with 3/8" plywood, 3/4 on floor. Have NO Squeeks - Coach is tight and comfortable. FWIW: Got the foam board from a commerical building site. Talked to the super (a wanta-be), told him what I was converting and that I sure could use just the scraps. Was glad to help - he saved a vew bucks on dump fees. Cost about one C note to insulate the 40' coach. Enjoying the journey in NC, Gene 05 Eagle |
