I don't have a manual and the owners don't either plus I don't want to buy one, I know the piping will need to be redone as I am removing a 8v71 TA and replacing it with a 8v71 NA anything else you guys can think of I would appreciate your help as I don't do much GM work hardly any till lately Thanks in advance |

Probably easiest to just remove the entire cradle and separate the engine and tranny on the shop floor. 2 bolts on the front bulkhead, and 2 bolts just above the rear bumper. If I was there already I would help, but I am still tied up for about another week. I sent you an email. |

"I don't have a manual and the owners don't either plus I don't want to buy one," Not a realistic attitude or productive concept , unless you prefer to re invent the wheel with each and every task. Fine if its your hobby , but a learning experience on someone elses dime is not nice. The difference as explained , yank the cradle , not the parts may save 50 hours , and get a better job in the end. All to not purchase a book? Good luck FF |

Definitely pull the engine and trans on the cradle. It will make this job a whole lot easier. You may want to ask someone if they will let you borrow a manual. Or just scan in the pages you need and send them to you.... . (Message edited by zimtok on October 07, 2011) |

I was planning on removing the engine on the cradle as the other engine has the cradle just thought there might be some short cuts,I found a manual but the guy wants 200 bucks for it and the owner won't spring and I really don't need one for one time use,if they are the same as a 4106 shouldn't be a problem ? FWIW FF this deal will not make me a dime the guy is a cancer patient I am just trying to help him I'm not in it for the money never have been anybody that knows me will tell you the same (Message edited by luvrbus on October 07, 2011) (Message edited by luvrbus on October 07, 2011) |

Clifford, I don't have a 4905 manual but I do have a 4107 manual on pdf. Email me and I'll send you a link to download it. There also some other manuals there that you might use in the future. DF |

Clifford, I have scanned and emailed you the section in the 4905 manual on engine removal. It's pretty straight forward. The only "trick" I see is to separate the driveshaft at the slip joint, but you already knew that. Hope it helps, Bob |

I'm sure you've been down this road before but be darn sure the drive shaft U joints are correctly in phase when you slide that slip joint together. I'd mark both halves before sliding them apart. (Words from a guy that just pulled his driveshaft to have it straigntened, balanced and re installed in phase.) Some can only be put together one way, mine could and had been installed wrong before. |
