I'm in the middle of installing a King Cruise in a 1981 Prevost that has been previously retrofitted with a 10 spd Fuller and an 8-92. I'd like to tie into the speedo sensor if possible but it has a 3-wire plug and the King only needs 2 wires.

Has anyone else run into this? What is the solution? (other than going to a separate speed sensor which is still an option)

I don't know what is a simpson but I can answer my own question now.

The three wires are ground, hot and signal. The King Cruise needs ground and signal. The previous shade tree mechanic had conveniently routed the speedo signal through the bus harness via the rear panel. That made it very simple for me to tap into the signal and ground in the rear panel along with all the other connections I needed.

"Q E D" as my pa would say. And it all works as advertised.

I recently put a King Cruise in my Eagle 10 in my back yard and it works great. Contact King Cruise and they will answer any and all questions you have. I called them at least 10 times and they were great to work with. I did not buy the unit from them but from another Eagle owner.

A Simpson is a particular brand of Volt/Ohm Meter (VOM). Using the name "Simpson" usually brands the speaker as being at least 50 years old. The "In Crowd" today (Read: Young Whippersnappers) more frequently uses the name "Fluke", or simply "VOM".

If the batteries are good & the little fuse isn't blown, they can all be made to yield similar but not necessarily matching readings.

Thank you JB.

Me and electricity have a kind of uneasy alliance. I swear my father is surprised that the wires aren't hollow so the power can get through them & some days I'm sure I'm not much better. After reading Fast Fred's battery maintenance instructions I invested in a digital voltmeter but it was just whatever was hanging on the shelf at the local hardware.

I should have added to my previous post:

There is a Prevost part #530122 "Tee adaptor" which fits between the transmission and the speedo sender to allow attachment of a sender for a cruise control. It appears my existing bodge will work but this would be a more elegant solution.
