"prevost coaches are sold straight to the high-end convertors"

NOPE!

The prevost folks are so desperate to move product they floorplan (give em for free for 18 months)to any conversion shop that will take them.

Since the CN taxpayers foot the bill for CN "jobs" they have been doing this for at least 2 decades.

The markup is so high on a new shell that they even did it when interest rates were closer to 10% than 2 % (for CN gov bonds).

Works for them, to rig the market,as the MCI are far superior coaches.

Although they apparently never "targeted" or made a converter special, in looking at the list of GMC4905 buses and who bought them, there were a dozen or so that were purchased for conversion or entertainer coach purposes, and looking at the build sheets for them, were built to the customer specifications.
I suppose other than color, perhaps the seats not being included was about all that was special.

Your comment regarding CN taxpayers footing the bill for CN "jobs" strikes me as uninformed and somewhat unkind.

Since CN is as broke as most modern semi socalist nations , they rely (like the US) on support from the world community purchasing their bonds (DEBT) to survive.

This borrowed money allows the "floorplanning" of coach shells to sell more .

Reality is frequently unkind , ever watch a Nature Show?

Fast Fred,

Not really the place for this discussion, but this is a country with a balanced federal budget, actually a surplus and a prosperous economy. I'd be happy to discuss it with you any time privately off this forum.

Fast Fred,

I see your point about debt - a significant part of the federal budget still goes toward servicing the existing debt, even though the current budget is balanced. My grandchildren will be paying for the spending excesses of the past.

Prevost, however, is jointly owned Volvo Bus Corporation and Henly's Group PLC, both multi-national European companies.
