Due to the increased cost of fuel and an idea I have had for a while , I have just purchased a new Ford F650 (26,000 gvw)with crew cab , 230" wb , big cummins and allison tranny - I am currently having a new 16' heavy duty steel flat bed constructed and installing a pindle/ball hitch combo to tow dually trailer with backhoe - I want to leave the bed totally clear for materials so am belly mounting 12/14 gauge tool boxes fore and aft of rear axle - This will allow me to send a crew of 6 with one vehicle long distances more efficiently The items I need help with are 1) I have been unsuccesful in locating a small 10k air-cooled diesel welder generator that i can belly mount just aft of the cab on one side and 2) an electric compressor w/tank for two hose set up at approximately 10cfm and minimum 160 psi for the other - height is the problem - I need something about 20" high or so - depth and length are no problem Thanks if you can help - NIles |

I think honda makes a comb.welder/powerplant that is diesel, only other thing you would need would be a good 5 horse 220volt air compressor,to run off that new powerplant,if I remember correctly the welder/powerplant was about 6,000.... |

Lincoln has a range of diesel welders including 9 different models. 18 to 56 horsepower. I learned to weld on a Lincoln machine. They're well made and will last just about forever. I have a red Lincoln buzzbox (you know, the little red ones that look like tombstones) that is older than I am and will weld circles around the overgrown battery charger, 30% duty cycle crap they sell at Home Depot. |

Take a look at this site for your compressor. It might be a little overkill for what you are doing but it sure is a slick system. |
