My generator is evedently not charging on my 4905. I lost my lights on the way up from florida and had to jerry rig them from my house batteries and run my genset with the charger so I could drive at night. before taking generator out and changing to alternator what tests should I run first and how? The tranny deal has wiped me out financialy and I don't want to jump in replacing stuff if I can avoid it. my drivers fan still works off of the 24 volt system but not my lights. any body in the northern Indiana area or any where in Mich. can help me out would be very grateful |

troubleshoot the voltage regulator. mine was toast and it did the same thing..one thing..as long as you dont turn the bus off..it will run..so land it for a night and start out in the am with nothing but the bus running. let it idel..or charge it for the night off the genset so it will start in the am..but..try nmot to turn it off if possible. the voltage regulator would more then likley be it is the alternator is working.its the cheapest place to start looking good luck pete |

really don't know much about the area you are in...look for a BIG shop that rebuilds truck starters & alt. ,have them check you output..you got to be the unluckyest guy around..did you ever get the double clutching down pat...a good possibility you have a new air comp. & nobody ever bled the air tanks.. |

Ron, i think you might have the same clutch i had in my scenicruiser..one thing that might help..dont get anxious when shifting..and watch your gas foot..if you clutch out and hit the gas..youll throw the whole thing out and have a bitch of a time getting it back into the proper rythem. id get so stressed out i forgot how to shift...lol |

it isn't that easy..ya' need somebody that has done it before,try a truck shop,see how much they would charge to do the job.. |

its not that hard.... you'll need to trace/identify the chassis wiring... either by actually hooking up a "hot" wire to each wire and see what lights up, using a "test light" or finding a wiring diagram... then you can identify the wires from your turn signal switch... signal-stat is a very common brand... that might be what you have... most major truck parts-supply will stock the switch... if you ask, the vendor may let you copy the wiring diagram... normally there is a power input from the flasher, a power input from the brake circuit, 1 wire each to the separate bulbs, (right front, left front, right rear, left rear) 4 outputs.... this is kinda generic, hope it helps.... jim |
