1 of my rooftop a/c's wouldn't start this year... guess being 27 yrs old has something to do with it... or maybe running 24 hrs/day for 7 months at a time... anyway, i went to HD yesterday.. bought a hamptom bay 110 vac 5050 btu unit.... its small... fits in a 17 w x 12 h opening... and pulls 4.8 amps....for $85, 'ya can't go wrong... it might not work for travelers, but foem someone like me... powerpole, in 1 place for a year or so at at ime. its great!!! |

I had the same problem with one of my roof airs. Turn on and just a hummmm, no air blowing. Took the top cowl off and found mud-dobbers had made a nest inside the squirl-cage fan. It was welded fast with dried mud. Cleaned it all out and works great now. In NE FLA, a wasp that makes its mud tunnell nest will build them in the strangest places. I will have two vinyl covers made for the roof airs when in storage. They should keep the "critters" out. |
