Continuing research and have found some interesting studies and explanations.

An explanation of theory is at http://www.vegburner.co.uk/votheory.htm
And an interesting study, the most complete I have seen is at http://journeytoforever.org/biodiesel_SVO-palm.html
This study was performed in Thailand and the engine completely dissassembled during the testing, the interesting thing is that the increased wear was all due to using unheated veg oil, the unheated oil has lower viscosity causing poor spray, incomplete burning and subsequent carbon build-up leading to ring wear and reduced valve performance. Another study I have yet to recieve a copy of shows that by heating the veg oil to 70C the viscosity is equal or better than diesel and by increasing the pop pressure of the injectors the poor combustion and subsequent wear are completely eliminated.

There is a German company modifying 2 stroke diesels by changing the injectors and heating the veg oil with great success, they have a great deal of research and I have spoken with them several times, unfortunately, thier research is in German and they are trying to locate an english translation for me now.

Thought those interested in the system might be interested in such research. My conversion is under way and at present I am awaiting delivery of a used 50gal diesel tank form a semi which will become my start-up/shut-down fuel tank.

The business across the street has made thier first weekly delivery of 30 gallons of used oil, which they took the liberty of filtering for me with a fryer filter system they have, I will still need to filter it further as I plan for a final product filtered to .5 microns. They have cancelled thier $30 a week contract with the disposal company and are more interested in the project than my wife... not shocking is it.

Good luck to all and I will post as the project continues.

Chris, I have used translation services for tech manuals I produced/wrote. The service is not cheap. I have also tried translation software with some mixed results. Can you get an electronic copy of the German document & How big is it? Maybe I can get it translated. Joe 4106
