Just paid 20.00 per gallon for 6ea 1 gallon jugs of 40wt Chevron oil. Is this pretty much the going rate or what? I hadn't bought any in about 5 years. |

Higher than I would be happy with. I've buying Rotella SAE 40 for around $65 for five gallons, and around $50 for five gallons for Supertech at Walmart, when they have it. Brian |

Earlier this summer, I went down to our local bulk plant and bought 2ea 5gal buckets of Delo 100 40w. I paid 180.00 for the two buckets. I like buying like this, then I can dump the rest into 1gal jugs and have spare for the road. Most places along the road that I've traveled don't carry it. |

I'm not sure where Jim bought his oil, but I live in Alaska and have shopped around. Even the standard Delo 400 at Walmart up here is $18.00 per gal. Our oil up here jumps around in prices just like our gas. Earlier this summer the price of oil was a lot higher than it is today. In all my newer Diesels, I buy Shell Rotella synthetic 5w40. The best price I can get on it, is at Walmart for $32.00 per gal. This is one of the down sides to living in Alaska. |

I bought a drum full of ExxonMobil XD3-40w ? about 8 years ago. Supplied a clean drum and they filled it while I watched and waited. Much cheaper than today's prices. Kept inside shop.I'll wager that we'll all have to switch to 15W40 in another 5 or so years. |

I recently noticed (Walmart) how much qt bottles of motor oil have jumped in the last year. Average 3.50 per qt now. Mobil 1 was about 21 to 23 per 4 qt jug for years. Now it is near 30. (4qt) |

Yes I hadn't thought about the prices in the far reaches. |

Humboldt, Sask., I paid $5.40 + .10 (EHC) for 1 Ltr. of 15w40 Shell Rotella T. The shop that just installed my rebuilt engine charged me $19.26 for each 4 Ltr. Jug (Message edited by daffycanuck on October 25, 2011) |
