While gutting my bus I discovered some paperwork with the name and phone number of a previous owner. On a lark I decided to contact him and ask if he knew anything about the history of my bus...
It turns out that he paid better than 50k for it in 1990, used it in charter service for one ski season and disolved his business partnership, the partner found himself in tax trouble by before the next season and donated the bus to a charity for a tax credit. The charity never used it and sold it to the guy I got it from, checking his records we found that since his last charter only 4,000 miles had been logged.
In the course of conversation he offered to buy the seats, video system and overhead compartments and to remove them himself, which he will be doing on monday. He has also put me in contact with the painter he uses who will paint the entire bus for $2000, in addition he has faxed me all pervious service records and offered a box of spare parts he still has.
Following up on the previous owner was one of the best decisions I have made so far with this project, just thought my story might encourage someone else to follow up as I did and share in possible good fortune.
