I need a little help here fellas. The group I sing with purchased a 1984 MC-9 "Jersey Cruiser" about 3 weeks ago.

In the morning I'll be having two new steer tires put on. I'll be putting the old steer tires on the tag axle.

Question 1: When I open the valves at the back of the coach to dump the air off the bags will I need to be up on my ramps so they'll come up?

Note: I checked this evening and I have only one chain to hold it up.

Question 2: What actually is the best way to change the tag tires?

I have "da book" and will start looking at it after this post. But I figured with "da book" and your imput; it would make it a little easier.

Thanks,

Glenn

they won't come up off the ground by themselves... dump the air, then use a a suitable hydraulic jack to lift...i use a 20 ton... kinda overkill, but its a "shorty" and fits good....

After you dump the air, let the bus re-level itself on the drive airbags. This will return the height to normal and you'll have plenty of room to remove the tire. Also, with the air dumped, a small floor jack makes the job easier since you don't have to get on the ground to use it.

While you have the wheeel off, check the caulking around the inner fender and replace it if needed. This is where the water gets in and rots the air beams. This would also be a good time to grease the tag swing-arm bushing and give everything there a good look-over.

Thanks Fellas,

I "got-her-done" without a problem.

Jim-9, when I have to do anything on a coach, I don't mind overkill one bit!

Jim A, I checked everything and it looks good. I had already done a grease job about 2 weeks ago.

Again fellas....thanks.

Glenn
