This question is for anyone that might offer advice, although the first person to come to mind is Fast Fred. I have a Jabsco marine toilet, the one with the built in macerator. This toilet cannot be hooked up to a pressurized water supply without additional parts. According to Jabsco's web site, it requires a water valve which is solenoid operated and also has a built-in vent to prevent siphoning. They of course sell one, abeit pricey ($95.00). Has anyone else installed one of these? Any alternate options for the water valve? |

Just a WAG, but how about a lawn sprinkler system electric valve? Aren't they 24V? |

Grainger has solenoid valves for about the same price. Avoid some hassle & go with the Jabsco. You'll find replacements and rebuild kits readily available at many marine dealers. One consideration is when the solenoid closes you can have a loud water "hammer" noise from the water shutting off rapidly. I strongly urge you to build in an anti-hammer tank or pipe. I didn't--- I will !!! Or, for $150 Grainger has a slow-close solenoid that eliminates the noise. Jim |

Second choice might be a seperate smallish tank , just to feed the toilet. Marine toilets are not as water miserly as RV units ,(but still 10X better than housey ) as you need to flush past the joker valve , to prevent aromas. Filling the seperate tank from the shower telephone should be safe enough. FAST FRED |

Hi Darryl, We use a Jabsco marine unit, feed from a seperate tank below the bath. No chance of contaminating the drinking water, plus recycles the bath water so we don't feel quilty if it takes a little more water to flush. We occasionally add some bleach to the bath tank if there is any stale smell when operating the toilet. |
