last year when i moved to houston to go to work for the caterpillar dealer here, it was pouring rain... like for the last 100 miles.... and the wipers wouldn't work.... found out why!!!.. they are hydraulic... work off of the power steering pump... just like the hydro-boost disc brakes do... i've got a Holiday rambler imperial 5000 31'... '77 model p30 chevy chassis... 454 gasser, turbo 400 auto...anyway... the control cable...like a lawn-mower throttle cable was rusted-siezed.... i cut the cable..now the wipers work!!!!!.... gonna need a new control cable... less that $10, i hope....but this is a great system....it 'parks' when they're turned off....and are variable speed... the only downfall is that both wipers work together....might be a solution to the air-wiper woes on some coaches... i'll try and find the mfg'r ....now in the great houston-victoria relocation, caterpillar to detroit transition, i know i'll have windshield wipers....YEAH!!!!! |

The wipers on my '63 T-Bird were hydraulic as well, never had to worry about burning up a motor |
