the wife is a Vet and every time we go to the VA they call her name and look at me, she hates that and surprises them when she stands up with her cane.
25 years ago she severed.
Thank you to all you Vets out there, and to the ones who never made it home.

This is a day to remember to thank the ones that cared enough to try to protect the very rights and privileges that others are trying to destroy. Many of us tryed to sink deeper into the mud of a rice paddy, some of our fathers stormed the beaches at normandy, I have two uncles buried over there that I never got the chance to meet,, I've never seen their graves either, my family military service goes back to the civil war and is a long standing tradition, a rite of passage of some sort, a way to become a man or a woman. I remember when judges were given the chance to sentence a young offender to jail, OR to 2 years in the army, something that I think straightened out some misguided kids far better than jail would have. Take the time to thank a vet, take the time to shake his or her hand and remember the kids are still fighting a thankless war and coming home in pieces both physically and mentally damaged, the days of the ticker tape parade for our returning hero's are long gone, now they are lucky if the job they had to leave when they were deployed is still there, but thank god for each and every one of them. Nothing makes me prouder and sadder than to be asked to do a benefit for a vet so he can get the care he deserves after that care was eleminated from the budget when free parking for members of congressed was retained. Thank you for doing what so many others did willingly and at great sacrifice to family and body, thank you for being who you are and what you are.
